RYA Advanced Powerboat

The RYA Advanced Powerboat course is designed for experienced leisure and professional skippers aiming to enhance their skills and undertake more adventurous day and night trips.

Covering a broad range of subjects, this course is demanding and requires serious commitment and preparation. Students must be competent to the level of RYA Intermediate or Tender Operator and hold a good knowledge of navigation and chart work, ideally to the level of Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Theory. Adverse Sea Conditions: Learn to handle small power vessels in challenging sea conditions.
Navigation Skills: Refine your use of chart plotters and radar.
Search and Rescue: Practice search patterns and emergency procedures both during the day and at night.

Prerequisites

Participants must be age 17 or over
Must hold a minimum of RYA Powerboat Level 2 but RYA Intermediate or Tender Operator are preferable
Have a good knowledge of navigation and chartwork, to the level of Coastal Skipper Shore-based Certificate
Hold a VHF/SRC licence
Hold a valid Marine First Aid
